Dr Matthew Gaved has board experience as a director of a number of Cambridge-based technology companies including: Antenova (antennae for mobile network devices), IDTechEx (RFID specialists), Polatis (optical network switches) and Astron Clinica (medical technology, until 2003). In several cases has been the non-executive director representing the interests of minority shareholders. He was a co-founder of Antenova, IDTechEx and Datanomic.

He has also specialised in the field of corporate governance and carried out extensive research into the role of institutional investors in the control of public companies. For five years he was the Editor of the international newsletter ‘Governance’ and had reports published by the ICAEW, The Conference Board and the OECD.

Dr Gaved’s earlier career was in sales and marketing roles in the UK and internationally for consumer brands and Psion. This included a period working in Singapore for a specialist consumer products distribution company.

In September 2009 he co-founded CompetitionRx, a specialist provider of monitoring trustee services and remedy advice to companies undertaking mergers and acquisitions in Europe, or subject to state aid agreements with the European Commission. In the period 2003-2009 he worked closely with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) as a member of its monitoring trustee services team.

Matthew Gaved has a BSc from Durham University, an MBA from the London Business School (LBS), an International Management Programme diploma (LBS/HEC France/NYU) and a PhD from the London School of Economics. He has also recently completed a Masters in Finance, also at LBS.
