Simon Pearson – Vice President, Risk & Compliance Screening

Simon is an expert in financial sanctions screening requirements, Anti Money Laundering, Know Your Customer and Compliance Screening software and business processes.  With a staggering US $1 trillion per year being laundered by financial criminals, drugs dealers and arms traffickers worldwide, Simon works closely with some of the world’s largest institutions to help implement their global compliance screening initiatives.

Simon has worked with major banks, international law firms, asset management firms, global telecommunications operators, auditors and similar regulated service providers to ensure they comply with stringent financial sanctions regulations. He has a wealth of practical insight into the common pitfalls surrounding financial sanctions screening, widespread misconceptions held in the financial services community around legal obligations, as well as real world anecdotes from companies who have faced heavy OFAC and HMT penalties and have had to revise their screening policies and practices.

As VP of Risk & Compliance Screening for Datanomic, Simon has delivered such extensive growth in Datanomic’s Sanctions & PEP Screening software that it is systematically screening more than two billion customer records every month. Simon has unique insight into major failures by banks, insurance companies, asset managers and other organizations in meeting OFAC, HMT, EU and other Sanctions screening requirements and how to avoid them.

Simon has lived and worked in five countries and has an in-depth understanding into international AML/CTF implementations in the UK, Europe, USA, Russia, Africa and the Middle East.

Simon holds an MBA from Edinburgh University.
