‘According to Bloor Research Datanomic Provides Arguably the most Flexible Data Quality Product in Support of Master Data Management or Data Warehousing Environments’

Leading independent analyst house, Bloor Research, has cited Datanomic’s recently launched dn:Director 6.0 platform as the most flexible data quality product on the market today. The fully integrated platform is both unique in the market and complete in its breadth of offerings. Based upon a single unified repository, dn:Director 6.0 is a compelling answer to address the issues of data quality and data governance.

Perhaps the most important distinguishing feature of dn:Director is that it is completely non-prescriptive when it comes to how you use its various functions, says Philip Howard, Research Director, Bloor Research. Traditional approaches to data quality have treated its various functions (profiling, analysis, cleansing and matching) as essentially separate (and siloed) applications. This results in data quality that is cumbersome, potentially slow and difficult to understand. From its inception, however, Datanomic has refuted this approach, insisting that you should be able to use any sub-function of data quality as and when you want to, so that you can implement your own data quality processes in a way that best suits your organisation, rather than having to adapt to a methodology forced upon you by the architecture of the data quality software.

dn:Director 6.0 delivers a reliable and trustworthy single view of the truth by restoring the lost value that inherently exists in meaningful data. Unlike other products and platforms, dn:Director is completely non-prescriptive with regards to how its various functions are used, but has the flexibility to be customised depending on customer requirements, providing pre-defined templates to address common business challenges, such as cleaning and de-duping customer data.

Howard added, Actually, there’s something else that’s cool about dn:Director. Parsing allows you to analyse free-form text so that you can support product cleansing for catalogue suppliers, which is something that is an area of weakness in most (non-specialist) data quality products. Phrase profiling, on the other hand, allows you to search for words or word groups. In particular, it supports the concept of street furniture: lampposts, for example, don’t have addresses, but highways authorities need to know where they are; as does anyone else that looks after and maintains such equipment, such as telcos, utility companies and the like. Now, it may be that every data quality vendor supports street furniture but in all the years I have been looking at such products I do not recall ever having a supplier mention it to me, which suggests that they don’t. In my opinion, Datanomic are worth serious consideration.

Datanomic also provides an optional add-on to dn:Director called dn:Dashboard, which delivers the ability to graphically view data quality compliance with internal or external regulatory reporting requirements on an on-going basis. Time to value from purchase to deployment is both straight-forward and short, with some customers deploying in as little as five days and most customers deploying in a matter of weeks.
