“When we evaluated dn:Director we liked the fact that it provided integrated functionality through a single interface; unlike other products, we did not need a collection of tools to fulfill all of our requirements.”

Data validation is critical to Every Child Matters legislation

Creating ‘Single View of Child’ from a Local Authority’s multiple agencies requires integrated approach to ensure welfare of children

Comprehensive data validation is critical to the fulfillment of ‘Every Child Matters’ legislation, and plays a vital role in a Local Authority’s ability to provide a unified single view of each child at every stage of development, according to compliance and data management specialist, Datanomic and government solutions specialist, CACI.

The Victoria Climbié inquiry highlighted the need for greater reform, and closer collaboration and integration between the various agencies involved with Local Authority’s Children’s Services Departments, such as Social Care, Education, and Probation. However, the compulsory requirement for greater collaboration and data validation brings its own set of challenges. How can Local Authorities gain a single view of live, interactive, multi-agency data relating to every child in its borough? The underlying challenges of ensuring multiple data records are fit for purpose, properly integrated with back-office systems, and easily accessible in order to provide a holistic view of every child in the system, are a complex task.

To address this issue, compliance and data management specialist, Datanomic, has formed a partnership with CACI to provide the data validation capabilities in its award winning dn:Director platform and integrate it with CACI’s ChildView solution. CACI will be integrating Datanomic’s profiling, matching and reporting functionality to provide a single view of child in support of the ‘Every Child Matters’ initiative.

“Data can exist in a variety of sources and there are numerous information sharing protocols amongst the relevant agencies involved, which can make data validation extremely complex,” said Paul Richards, Director of Children and Young People’s Services for CACI Limited. “Data validation is a critical element to our ChildView approach. Our ability to integrate Datanomic functionality into our ChildView solution will enable local authority customers to ensure their underlying data is both accurate and protected. Information is captured at source and delivered to users in an accurate format with a live, interactive, multi-agency view relating to each child in the system.”

Jeremy Lovett, Vice President Data Management Applications Division for Datanomic, added, “If one agency enters information into the system, that data will be immediately updated and viewable, providing immediacy and concurrency of live data. Local Authorities also have the option of extending the data validation capabilities in a broader context, across other systems and departments for validation of all of their data requirements. For example, Brent Council has built Datanomic’s software into their data management and governance processes. By working with CACI, we can help Local Authorities ensure their data is fit for purpose, easily accessible, and reduce administration costs.”
