Datanomic announces key customer win in NHS NPfIT programme

Westminster Primary Care Trust (PCT) to take full Datanomic data quality suite to prepare for critical patient data migration

Datanomic announced today that it had reached an agreement with Westminster Primary Care Trust (PCT) under which Westminster will take its full suite of data quality tools to audit and transform complex patient data.

The Datanomic technology acquisition is driven by a requirement to comply with the stringent data migration quality standards of the National Programme for Information Technology (NPfIT), a major UK Government investment in national Care Records Service (CRS).

Westminster PCT covers the same area as Westminster City Council and serves a population of more than 220,000 people. The resulting information migration will be a significant task owing to the amount of time, resource and experience required in preparing the data to populate the new CRS. Westminster PCT must ensure that its data conforms to pre-defined specifications, which means only accurate, complete and fit for purpose data is acceptable. Datanomic’s products will be deployed to better understand and clean patient record data.

Geoff Geaves, NPfIT Programme Manager at Westminster PCT said, “Westminster PCT chose Datanomic to assist with the data migration from multiple legacy systems to the new community health system offered within the National Programme for IT run by NHS Connecting for Health.  The flexibility of their solution was key to our decision”.

He added, “Not only does Datanomic assist us in achieving our goal of transferring data from numerous local Patient Administration Systems (PAS), but the product can be used to monitor and police on-going data quality that will be so necessary in so many other aspects of our day-to-day business including Payment by Results, SUS, Searchable Archiving and Capacity Planning.”

The National Programme for IT is bringing modern computer systems into the NHS to improve patient care and services. Over the next ten years it will connect over 30,000 GPs in England to almost 300 hospitals and give patients access to their personal health and care information, transforming the way the NHS works.
