Datanomic secures another industry heavyweight to Independent Advisory Board

Appointment of Ian Smith, former Oracle Senior Vice President and BT UK Customer Services Managing Director adds industry expertise as company continues expansion

30 April 2010 – Cambridge, UK – Compliance and data management software specialists, Datanomic, today announced the appointment of Ian Smith to its Independent Advisory Board. As the former Regional Senior Vice President of Oracle UK, Ireland and Israel, Ian is an industry IT heavyweight with decades of experience in high growth companies and customer service delivery. His appointment further strengthens Datanomic’s Independent Advisory Board and is part of the company’s strategy of harnessing the knowledge and experience of external, independent experts to deliver guidance, governance and market insight as it continues its international growth and market penetration.

Ian is currently Managing Partner of Anderson Bick Consultants LLP, his own executive coaching consultancy, which he established after leaving his executive role at Oracle, a post he held for nine years.  Prior to his tenure at Oracle, he was Managing Director of BT UK Customer Service.  Ian also serves on the Board of Business in the Community (BITC), is a member of BITC’s Education Leadership Team and chairs BITC’s South East Leadership team.  He chairs the Leadership for Global Competitiveness Advisory Group of the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) and has held the post of President of the Institute of Customer Services since its inception over ten years ago.

Until 2008, he served on the Board of Junior Achievement-Young Enterprise, and in February 2009 was confirmed as Chairman of Young Enterprise UK. He is a Faculty member of Merryck & Co, a Fellow of the British Computer Society, a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, a Fellow of the City & Guilds Institute, a Companion of the Chartered Management Institute, and an Honorary Fellow of Liverpool John Moores University.

“We set up the Independent Advisory Board last year to help steer the company through its next phase of domestic and international growth,” said Dr Jonathan Pell, CEO of Datanomic. “Ian’s appointment further strengthens our external expertise and provides us with critical insight to ensure we deliver outstanding customer service, scalability and strategic management of our ongoing growth.”

Ian joins fellow Advisory Board Members, Tony Morris, independent strategy consultant and former Non-Executive Director of Datanomic, who is Chairman of the Advisory Board; Keith Willetts, Chairman and founder of the TM Forum, the world’s leading telecoms trade association with over 700 member companies covering 185 countries; and Dr Mike Hamm, who held senior roles in large organisations such as Unisys, NCR, SAS and SAP Business Objects.

“I’m delighted to be joining such an esteemed group of individuals and am looking forward to helping Datanomic leverage the myriad of global market opportunities as it continues its impressive track record of triple digit growth, market penetration and global expansion,” added Ian Smith.
