Architected for collaboration

A Flexible and Scalable Data Quality Solution

dn:Director was designed to support collaborative working and flexible deployment. Written entirely in Java, the server software can be installed on a Windows, Linux or Unix platform whilst the client is deployed via a browser using Java Webstart technology.

A wide range of deployment configurations are possible, across a variety of hardware platforms. From single–user laptop installations, through departmental servers to a single enterprise–wide data management environment, the architecture ensures that users can work together productively.

Users can access multiple server environments from the same user interface, enabling effective sharing of information and results. Development, test and production environments can all be managed simply and efficiently from one place.

Connectivity

Using open standards across the board, dn:Director can connect to virtually any data source, from text files and Access databases to large corporate datastores. It can also integrate into a Services Orientated Architecture, providing a data quality firewall for real-time transactions across the enterprise.

dn:Director uses JDBC to provide connection to datastores, for batch processing and XML over JMS to support loose coupling and integration with any standard message stream for real-time protection, monitoring and data transformation.

Scalability

A component–based, client server architecture gives true scalability. The same installation package can be installed from a stand-alone laptop to an enterprise server or cluster. The client, integrity engine and repository can be installed on separate machines to give maximum flexibility, redundancy and power. A multi–threaded execution environment means dn:Director can be scaled both up and out – the data quality process need not become a data bottleneck.
