Technology

dn:Director has been built to grow with you in a simple and straightforward way.

We want you to love our software not just on day one, but over the years as your business evolves and your needs change.

Written entirely in Java, dn:Director offers highly flexible deployment choices: the server software can run on Windows, Unix or Linux hardware while the client is always deployed via a browser using Java webstart technology.

The architecture was built to deliver:

Extensibility - there’s a great depth of standard functionality within dn:Director, but there’s always the possibility that your problem is just a little bit special. So we’ve designed in extension points at the core of the product so that can develop your own extensions if you need to - meaning that you can solve your business problems faster;

Configurability - dn:Director’s data-driven approach means that customers can easily pilot, build, test and amend business rules based on their data and company. The product recognizes that your business is unique, so, unlike other Data Quality applications, it doesn’t force you to apply a library of pre-configured rules to your requirements. The result: data quality projects can be set up quickly by data domain experts with no scripting experience and value is returned from the outset;

Collaboration - From single-user laptop installations, through departmental servers to a single enterprise-wide data management environment, dn:Director’s architecture ensures that users can work together productively. Users access multiple server environments from the same user interface, enabling effective sharing of information and results. Development, test and production environments can be managed simply and efficiently from one place;

System Openness - Integrating dn:Director with external software results in no integration overhead. Open APIs allow us to connect with data in any format in any source application (CRM, ERP, Excel…), hierarchical and relational databases (from Access to Oracle and beyond) including text files. dn:Director uses JDBC to provide connection to datastores for batch processing and XML over JMS to support loosely coupled integration with any message stream for real-time protection, monitoring and data transformation;

Batch & Real-Time Processing - dn:Director integrates into a Services Orientated Architecture, providing a data quality firewall for real-time transactions across the enterprise.

The product was developed on the basis that its component parts were complementary and should be part of a single whole, rather than being developed independently and then integrated. Other vendors that offer data profiling and cleansing, for example, tend to mandate that you do each task separately. That is not the case with Datanomic.Bloor Research
